Military Electrical Sealant

Morning,

When I was in, before deployment when the radio guys would outfit a HMMWV, they would seal off all contacts and bolts with a grey rubber sealant. Anyone know what this stuff is? I believe it keeps the contacts protected and if I remember correctly they just peeled it all off when they were done. I'd like to use a bit of this on some bolts if I can figure out what it is. I did some searches and potentially it's this stuff:

The Marines used this stuff to exclude moisture from getting into things and corroding them on vehicles that would see salt water. It's kind of a bear when you want to remove it, usually you cut off as much as you can and then wire brush off the rest. It's great stuff for waterproofing hardware.

And expensive. One time shot unless you get more mixing tips and that dispensing gun $$ too.

I use Permatex gasket maker. Fuel resistant. Gray and smells like the good stuff. I squeeze a dab on a paper plate and with an acid brush, paint it on and around and done. Has a nice flow and feathers out without brush marks making a controlled application. Dries fast too. No big clumpy bumpy RTV.

Still have to scratch at it to remove, but it is thin and sealed.
