Anybody have a 40' gooseneck trailer for rent or maybe a single drop for behind my M818? Sure can't afford to drive all my junk that far.
Doctor Dave??? Any ideas?
You could leave all your "junk" at home and come tow the SGPRSMD to the shows, and RETURN IT right after the shows.

We might be able to work something out.. I NEED a octapussy valve for my M818 it is sucking air! Do some scrounging down at Findlay and find me one would ya! Just put my junk in that trailer..lol.. I am sure to return it after some gnome home engine work is complete. lol again! Wasn't there some fuel money for doing this? Orrrrrrr! You could come up drop off a car and take it for hauling your trailer to Oscoda?? I could then bring you back here to retrieve your ride on one of my trips back and forth? Minus whatever tires or good scrap are on it that is.. Just a thought.. :beer:Let me know your thoughts I will need to put insurance back on it..

Hmmmmm, let's see if Chuck can get donations for fuel. What do you estimate the fuel bill (about 850 miles) to be from Gnomeland to Troy to Oscoda to Gaylord, to Troy and back to Gnomeland?

Well.. probably average 6MPG maybe 8 bob tailing.. 850 miles divided by 6 times $4.09 or more = $ 600ish :shock::shock:.. I just heard your bung hole pucker!!!:doghead:It's little late for collecting cans:( We don't have any patriotic civy truckers attending the show?

I've been trying to drum something up locally with close to zero good 411. What you have just summarized aounds like the BEST possible option if you, Lane, are up for it, and we can work it out. I personaly REALLY want to see that thing here in Oscoda and over at Gaylord for the Air Show. I beleive the majority of the cost can be covered by the Sponsorship $ I've collected- so let's keep talking......................

I was not successful in obtaining a corporate sponsor to fund the transportation of the 31,000 lb shop trailer, or any other unique vehicle for that matter.

Heard from the Military Surplus Store in Houghton Lake today, they will be at the show as a vendor.

Has anybody ran this by Doctor Dave? The OD Dragon? Dave and I have rented civi Rider trucks in the past and it might be a cheaper/faster way for getting it to Oscoda. I could then haul it to Gaylord. How are the tires on that Eric? Have you checked the bearings and brakes? Does that have a civi light hook up? Andrews sister is a trucker I wonder if we rented her a truck if she would be interested? Just thinking/typing out loud..

Long trip for Dave too. Tires are very good. Had one flat we removed before the trip home. Got it fixed and back on now. Brakes and bearings seem to be good as well. Hubs stayed cool during trip and wrecker driver said brakes worked fine. I'll be inspecting both next week. No civi lights, i'll have to whip something up.

SAFETY:

Forgot to mention previously but should be automatic for those that do things the RIGHT way. ALL vehicles and wheeled equpment on display will be properly chocked! In addition, you should have a ignition/battery disconnect switch installed/utilized, or otherwise disable the 'start' function unless you are going to be standing next to/guarding your vehicle at all times.

Thank you for your support.................

Great Balls Of Fire!

The 'Marine Special Event Permit ' has been approved and received in good order. This simply took care of the legal requirement with the State of Michigan DNR, to allow any Historic Amphibious Military vehicle to go for a 'swim' in Van Etten Lake, without the normally requuired 'Boat Registration and Numbering'. With a Boat launch, raw shoreline/ingress area into the water of this large lake less than 1,000 feet from the June 8 -10th MIMVPA Display/Show Grounds.

Thank you MI DNR, Roscommon Operations Service Center, for your dilligence and help 'pushing' this through the process with some special effort, because I flat forgot to submit the 'application for permit' a couple months prior to the event, like I should have.

That's it for the moment, thanks!

I haven't heard anyone say that, but I SURE would like to see one there-trying to make sure we have a vast assortment of the different types of HMVs!

I just learned a guy from Bay City is bringing up his fully retored NAVY jeep; he has it decked out to be part of the 'Auxiallary Equipment' for that 'Destroyer Escort' or whatever (can't remember) type of ex-navy ship they are rescuing from the Mothball Fleet. The ship is being TOWED from the Philidalphia Ship Yard through the Great Lakes to Bay City (supposed to take 6 weeks) to be permanately docked on the river there right downtown next to the Veterans Memorial Park. This project has been going on for several years as you can imagine all the red tape/approvals/permits/etc required for such a thing to happen.

Is anyone bringing a wrecker to the show?
There is almost always a wrecker or crane at the shows in Michigan.
I know a couple Dave's with wreckers & a couple Dave's with Hiab's
Will one of them show up with one of them? Haven't heard a word.
Sure hope so! Loading and transfering goods is always interesting!

Hey Chuck.. Just wondering how we looking on parts vendors? Any for sure ?

Suggest PMing, email, text, or phone call to Dave P for the ''Inside/locked down' Vendor Tables; those are the only ones that pre registation is suggested to insure a table. As far as outside vendors, it's wide open/don't know because nothing is required except to show up.

Although 'off' the thread title, i got complete information on the form US Navy ship coming to Bay City to eventually be a permaently docked Floating Museum.

It is the full sized DEYSTROYER, USS 'Edson' DD946

Commissioned in 1968

The tow/trip from the Philidalphia Ship Yards has not started yet, but will shortly.

SS member wiggall served on that ship from '69-'73. It was supposed to be there over a year ago but I guess politics happened.
