MK 23 parts missing here?

Lifted the hood today and noticed all the leaves are falling under the hood! Theres a big gap between the window and hood. Thats a fire hazard for sure. Are they made this way or am I missing some parts??

That's how they're designed. With all the rubber sealing mats in place, there is no where for the air to leave the engine bay. All the rubber mats are there to prevent water from splashing onto the engine.

So were there any rubber mats filling that gap?

No that's the only open area for air to escape. I think it's a dumb design but that's the way they came
