I like originals so far, I gotten the 34P and the 20P

I'm going to order the rest in a few days the rest I can't get will be printed
.
Nothing like a paper copy to sit and peruse... On the other hand, having these TM's in digital format - so you can search for something in particular - will make the search go much faster.

Its been 3 years or so since I did a full restoration on a M561 but in the second picture that is the engine flame heater, its missing the spark plug wire and wire harness, I believe the large plug was a harness that goes to the alternator, and the wire to the oil pressure sender is missing or snapped off. I still have the remains of a goat harness, I can look and see if I may have something you need.

See if you can find a taped up cable around 3/8” dia in the vicinity of the 60 amp alternator. That would have been the oem wiring for the alternator. The large connector is part of a kit that was depot installed.

Looking at this again on a laptop, the connector is not for a 100 amp system. I think I see a taped up wire in your pics. See if it has continuity to the +24 volt battery terminal. If so that is your alternator wire.

So the long cable goes to the alternator with the ring Lug on it..

Does the short thick cable attached to the alternator just hanging or is that a gound?

And where does the military Packard connector contect to?

Im looking at this picture

The cable already attached to the alt is the ground. The cable with the lug goes under the cover held on with screws. My memory fails me on the Packard connector.

Thank you I'm going to dig around in the next few days to see if I can find the oil pressure wire and the other alternator cable...

Does anyone know the wire number that has the packard connector that goes to alternator?

It's Gama.

One M, after Robert Gamaunt the designer of the articulated joint between the 2 sections.

DO NOT run any oil other than 40WT DELO 100, or you'll coke up the rings faster than you can say damn! Nothing else available has the Detroit Diesel required low ash requirement.
