I've got one of those ignition switch locks too. Came on the truck.
Chuck, I think your truck came from the same place as mine. 38 146FSB.
Mine hinges the other way though. You can see it in the picture.

It was once suggested that the locking twist handles for overhead garage doors would work.

Yes they did come from the same unit. I still have not had time to paint mine. I still haven't had time to put in the brake handle and cable. I am all set when spring comes. I have a mountain of parts to install.

There was a prior thread on using a lockable handle, garage door, I think. Search and ye shall find...
I saw a deuce that the owner used an aircraft mixture control stop lock on. Worked well. It was red and went around the throttle stop control when pulled out. took an external padlock. Available at pilot shops. (Try Sporty's). But like they say - If they want it bad enough... Personally, I think the most secure is a big hole in the side of the crankcase!

Well guys, I'm going to add another one. I've started leaving my transfer case in neutral. I am going to have to drill out the hole a little bit so my lock will fit.

But unless you know exactly what you are doing, jumping in a deuce and starting it up isn't that easy. And if you leave the transfer case in neutral, you let out the clutch and nothing.

The first time I did it, I forgot. Took me a minute or so of checking things to realize, "DUH" left it in neutral. THEN off I went.

Sometimes the simple things are the best.

I have pulled all of the 'descriptive' plates off of my truck. So you not only need to know how to start it, you need to know how to drive it, including which gears are where.

Every little thing we can do to make it harder for 'professional thieves' is a good idea.

Plus, why bother a local when all they have to do is sneak onto a National Guard station and drive off all sorts of Green Iron.

I would like to know how many civilian deuces have ever been reported stolen. It wouldn't be too hard for the cops to find I would think. Maybe some LEOs on this site could provide us with some thoughts??? I know I have never heard of a stolen deuce!!

I don't know much about the deuce,but a few choice wires pulled here and there on a 6.2 powered cucv and it'll never start.sometimes not even turn over.
sometimes it'll do this on it's own...

I had a 1971 GMC 4X4 stolden off Ft Bragg in 1995. The cops couldn't find it!!! It was alot more rare than a deuce!!!Bright RED even!!!!!

My deuce has the steering wheel chain, a chain on the e-brake and an ignition kill switch hidden under the dash. More concerned with kids playing with it than theft. Have a hefty insurance policy, would just move on to the next toy.

My burglar alarm doesn't seem to work as well as everyone else's
