Ya, i just decided to make another thread for it. Thanks manThat's sharp. I see the other thread.
Do you have any pictures of repairing your dash? Mine has probably 4 huge cracks and several places where the speaker holes are missing a lot of the material. I don’t want to spend $700 on a new dash so if I can fix it on the cheap, that’s what I’d like to do. I’m not doing a resto, just trying to make it look decent and drivable. I’ll do more of a full on resto when I win the lotto!April
This week I addressed the interior.
The dash pad was black, and cracked in several places. I read a couple threads where people used foam and bed liner, or re-vinyl it. I ended up sanding it with 100 grit. I then glassed the cracks and applied resin over the entire piece. I let the resin drain into the speaker and vent holes, it soaked into the fragile foam and totally reinforced them, while leaving the wholes.
I then sanded the whole thing smooth and painted it with SEM 15063.
I also cleaned and repainted the door panels, seat belt plastics all with SEM 39863 adhesion promoter and SEM 15063 for a factory look.
I have a lot of build photos, I look through them, didn't find any of the dash. SorryDo you have any pictures of repairing your dash? Your truck looks bad ass!Couple updates.
I installed a Curt 13401 Trailer hitch the other day. I did not have to cut anything to make it fit, however, i did have to remove that 2' long bar that runs along the bottom of the bumper.
I was worried it would look a bit odd having a hitch below to pintle, but its not that noticeable.
It seems tow my little boat to the ramp just fine (which has brakes) but a little sketchy slowing my my utility trailer loaded up ( no brakes). Havin said that, I dont think I'll be going down the highway with a heavy trailer.

My CUCV was also lacking the front grill. I priced one out with shipping from hillbilly wizard and it was going to be like $1700+ to get all the missing parts.
I finally found a guy parting out a m1008 locally, tuck was on it frame(no axles) in the mud and all the carriage bolts were rusted/siezed. Such a pain to get it but I brought it home, straightened it, primed and shot it will so olive drab. So nice to be reunited with the correct bumper!

Here ya go.Your truck looks bad ass!
What was the 2” bar used for? Do you mind posting a few pics of the underside of the hitch showing where it bolts up? Where did you tie in your trailer lights? Thanks!
Thank you!Here ya go.
You can see where the 'bar' bolted in place by the missing holes. I also have a shackle flip witch slightly complicated the install, but still works. there is a harness on mine that wasn't plugged into anything. There i found the brakes and signals. I had to get the reverse from the harness at the taillight.

Lots of cleaning between task lol. Usually I'll lose a tool and just clean until i find itI curious, how do you keep a garage floor that clean?
It looks great!
If I had a Duramax in my M1008, I would have wrapped it around a tree in the woods lolI addressed all the leaks this past weekend, as well as replace the smashed in oil pan and re-did the turbo return line.
I know its sacrilege, but I really want to put a duramax in there.
I love this truck, but i really need the reliability, and power of a newer truck, like a2006 k2500hd. If I could combine those two trucks into one...
Yeah I don't need speed, mine chugs along at 70 just fine. It can get my boat to the local boat ramp about a mile away easy as well.If I had a Duramax in my M1008, I would have wrapped it around a tree in the woods lol
Both of my M1008 trucks have been fairly reliable with the ole 6.2 diesel... no complaints. Just not going to win a speed contest with them...
I tow my tractor n trailer which is about 7500lbs with my M1008. For the short distances I have to pull it, it works just fine....Yeah I don't need speed, mine chugs along at 70 just fine. It can get my boat to the local boat ramp about a mile away easy as well.
However, The other day I tried to tell it to the nicer boat ramp in the city, and it was just not pleasant. It struggles up bridges and anything over 50.
The boat with trailer is about 5300#.
