Finally got the fender from Ohio last night. It was a gamble that paid off. A bran new right front fender. I also got some other junk like aluminum scaffold planks to replace rusted out steps and a MRAP battery box( huge) and trailer landing gear for my car trailer which is need badly.
My question is there anything I should do while the fender is off?
I plan on reusing the old fender to repair drivers front fender so that will be off also.

If you have both front fenders off, I'd go ahead and pull the hood and:

Rebuild or replace hood hinges
Rebuild or reseal steering box
Repaint engine compartment
Paint cab where the fenders meet
Carefully inspect entire fuel system and replace any hoses/lines that are leaking/rubbing/cracking/brittle
If you're ever planning on replacing the wiring harness, now is as good a time as any

Clinto is right on the money. I am in the middle of a tear down and found the mounting holes in the cab for the hood hinges full of cracks that was hidden by the hinge plates. Of coarse to get to the bolts under the dash is a lot of fun. All kinds of stuff in the way to get around but it is doable, I took the hood off the hinges first. Use plenty of penetrating oil on all the bolts. I also found stress cracks on the front corners of both fenders that also wear hidden. Must be a lot of vibration over the years from the engine and loose fitting parts to cause the cracking. It can be a Pandora's box or not, good luck

I have not looked yet but is welting used between panels for sound deading? Wiring harness is a must so I will get that. I want to replace hood hinges anyway. My new fender is for an A3. My A2 has old style air cleaner. I would like the air cleaner out of the engine bay to keep intake air as cool as possible. Is there a down side to doing this? My Deuce is rough an is not of collector quality my use for him is of the pleasure side and occasional work of some sort so keeping original is not a requirement. I do want to deal with the rust out of the fenders, door sills and a couple of small spots on the floor. My bed has had cargo tie down points welded in at some point and never painted. Rust but not through. I am going to needle gun and rust nutrilize then paint with por10. Yes I will repair leaks. Hose replacement. Paint engine bay??? Install power steering.

Anything else?

Welting was used. It was a rubber flap similar to the hardtop-to-cab seal. You'll probably have to fabricate something, I've never seen the correct ones for sale.

Moving the air cleaner probably won't make a lot of difference to the temp and if it does, the cooler air will still have to travel through the engine compartment and the turbo and most importantly: the consistently hot intake manifold, because the manifold is kept the same temperature by the coolant flowing through it.

Do a search in the deuce modification forum for intercooler and you'll find lots of stuff.

Out of curiosity, why would you need to replace your wiring harness? For brittle wires/age or physical damage?
I've had several trucks where the wiring was brittle and all the rubber connectors were worthless. My '67 was that way. The harness was so old it wasn't worth messing with.

My front harness is ready for replacement. I have several repairs made and one spot where it was pinched on top of frame, something fell or stepped on or pried on. The repairs are good but some spots the insulation is coming off.

Just ordered rubber welting. Also picked up a needle gun. I have grinders and sanders for the light stuff. Ordered filter set less air cleaner.
