I have not looked yet but is welting used between panels for sound deading? Wiring harness is a must so I will get that. I want to replace hood hinges anyway. My new fender is for an A3. My A2 has old style air cleaner. I would like the air cleaner out of the engine bay to keep intake air as cool as possible. Is there a down side to doing this? My Deuce is rough an is not of collector quality my use for him is of the pleasure side and occasional work of some sort so keeping original is not a requirement. I do want to deal with the rust out of the fenders, door sills and a couple of small spots on the floor. My bed has had cargo tie down points welded in at some point and never painted. Rust but not through. I am going to needle gun and rust nutrilize then paint with por10. Yes I will repair leaks. Hose replacement. Paint engine bay??? Install power steering.
Anything else?
Welting was used. It was a rubber flap similar to the hardtop-to-cab seal. You'll probably have to fabricate something, I've never seen the correct ones for sale.
Moving the air cleaner probably won't make a lot of difference to the temp and if it does, the cooler air will still have to travel through the engine compartment and the turbo and most importantly: the consistently hot intake manifold, because the manifold is kept the same temperature by the coolant flowing through it.
Do a search in the deuce modification forum for intercooler and you'll find lots of stuff.
Out of curiosity, why would you need to replace your wiring harness? For brittle wires/age or physical damage?
I've had several trucks where the wiring was brittle and all the rubber connectors were worthless. My '67 was that way. The harness was so old it wasn't worth messing with.
