At 300 hours of use, the air filters are supposed to be changed, at 1000 hours the igniter is supposed to be changed. I've not seen any with cracks before, but since it's stainless they could have cracked because of excessive heat or too rapid cooling (IE pulled it out for some reason while hot from running and set it in the rain/put out a fire with water/had a pot of water boil over and put it out). So long as it's not through both sides of the heat shield it will probably be all right. These are the older model burners with a range of 20 K BTU/HR to 55 K BTU/hr. I rarely run any of mine (old or new models) over half of the full range of output - only exception is the burner under the sterilizing sink in the FST since we need to keep 20 gallons of water in that sink above 180 degrees That one runs with the pointer about 9 or 10 o'clock, boiling water for spaghetti or macaroni is normally 11 or 12 o'clock and most cooking is done with the pointer around 3 o'clock in my experience.

So 425ish hours is not that bad, I take it for the life of these? I was not sure how long they were to last. So if a igniter is good for a 1000hrs I will never need to replace one in my use of these ;-).

Thanks for the info SCSG-G4. I need to get that thumb drive sent to you.

At the rate I'm going, I may never have to replace air filters either! Most of my units get less than 10 hours during the course of the GA Rally. Ones in the sink trailer (Field Sanitation Trailer) get about double that. That does not stop me from having a spare air filter and igniter for each operating unit, and half a dozen spare MBU's. I carry three or four spares to cover the 10 operating units when going into the field - hot swap is faster than going through the Work Packages in the TM (at least while trying to cook/clean-up).

Well I tried all 6 of my burners this weekend. 5 out 6 work. Number 6 shows a fault 02 low voltage but the battery show 25.8 volts and the other 5 work just fine running off them, before and after trying #6. So I need to do some looking to see if it is fixable. I'm out of town this week so when I get home I'll try checking all the plugs and stuff. Any other ideas??

I have been following the posts on these "MKT" units for awhile now and I'm wanting to get one for myself. What is a good price for one ? I have never seen one at auction here in the NW so that means I will have to look back East. Thanks.

Prices are all over the map, depending on contents and the desires of the potential purchasers (I need one right now vs that would be interesting to own). I've seen interesting ones from as little as $1200 to over $5000, and you would still have to get it shipped to your location if none come up near you. They weigh over 5500 pounds if complete and they are a little larger than a 105 trailer with bows and a tarp on it in the carry configuration. Best when pulled by a deuce or larger vehicle. YMMV.

I also won 16 more MBU's for it, now to get them and see if any are any good:eek:. May have got a bunch of parts time will tell.
