OK, for NOW I've only got the M1028A2 dually, and two M1009's. Plus an M101A1 and an M101A2 trailers.

So, I will be SLOWLY adding an M1010 when I can find one I can afford and the wife gives me the money. Same goes for an M1031. I already had ONE M1031 but it needed a little more work than I had the patience for. LOADS of straightening sheet metal was the biggie. Even the roof looked like somebody jumped up and down on it. The rest were basic fixes. That dented roof, that was what caused me to sell it. Got more than I paid, so I'm basically happy with that deal. But now I need to find another one. And I GUESS I should also have the M101A3 trailer as well.

I'm in no rush. I hope to finish my collection in the next three years, by the time I turn sixty. Then just sit back and enjoy it all.

The real pain is keeping them all legally parked. We NEED to move outside of Denver. This is starting to get out of hand, from a parking perspective.

Oh, I've got a spare TH400 tranny that I hope to rebuild this winter. And a spare NP208 transfer case that I ALSO hope to rebuild this winter. And YES, that's a spare 6.2L diesel 'in the can' in the M101A1 trailer behind one of the M1009's.

I'm picking up a Nato slave cable this Friday. I have a medium tow bar ready to purchase. Just waiting for the stars to align and they become available. The wife has already given the OK on the tow bar. We discussed the Nato cable but she didn't exactly give her OK. But for $125 in great shape, I CAN'T let it pass. And it's from a guy in our club. So it's all JAKE.

Nice. What club are you referring to? I know of one other CUCV owner in the Denver area, but it's always good to have some further resources somewhat nearby. I'm up in the mountains.

I'd retire and move to South Colorado or Northern New Mexico. Lots of land available and it's beautiful and your trucks will come in real handy during the winter!!

MTM,

MVCC (Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado) at MVCConline.org

Meeting is Friday night down in Sedalia... WE LOVE new folks to stop in and chat with us.

Come on out. Bring a chair. The fold up ones seem the most popular but even I have an old wooden folder I painted OD green and I take that every once and a while.

The M1028A2 usually carried the S250 comm shack or something similar in it's bed. But this one seems to not have suffered too badly.

I was married, had no MV's, in fact I was told whenever I went to a show or swap meet not to bring anything home. Now I'm single, broke, and have more MV's than I can count. Is there anything wrong with that picture? Broke I guess, but if I wasn't broke I'd have one more. :driver:

I bought some shackles today that are pretty close match to original.

I found some shackles that are very, very close to factory CUCV pieces. I bought one of the screw type, but realized it really didn't look right. After a little digging, I found some from MSC that are pretty close. I did have to grind about .050" out of the center to go over the 1.5" tubing, but they look really nice on the truck. They were a little pricey at $23 each, but I wasn't finding any full sets of original any cheaper. They have a big ol honking "USA" forged into them which is cool too! Here's a pic of them, and pic comparing it to the screw type.

Wow. Most truck and tractor supply folks want nearly $50 / each for screw-type shackles. THAT was a great find!

Can we get the MSC part number too? This would eliminate sizing errors for those who order them in the future...

Wait a minute.........Does this really happen?....Does she have a sister?

Nice collection.
Actually she does.

My BIL collects HARLEYS.... LOL.

Gotta love a woman who supports her man. The wife is involved in the club. WE (actually mainly my wife, I'm the bottle washer part of the equation) will be providing the lunch meal on Saturday at the Rocky Mtn Airshow for the club the last weekend of the month. She has really started to enjoy the club events this one is the one we both love to attend each year.

If you live anywhere near Denver, come on by. We are going to have a pretty nice display of stuff out. A WWII encampment, it will be our first year for a Vietnam era encampment. I'm hoping one day to see our club put up some kind of Desert Storm/Iraqi War II type of encampment. But we grow one member, one family, one truck at a time and have a great time doing so.

Man I wondered whast happened to this post! I thought I started a new thread, and then I could not find it. I'm going to post as a new thread, and I'll get those part numbers tomorrow when I go back to work.

I didn't mean to hijack your thread wallew!

No harm, no foul. I LOVE how threads evolve. But I would suggest you make your own thread AND add it to the FAQ sticky at the top as well WITH all the numbers. That's become quite a resource and this info really needs both of those things.

That way if you do a search on title, it will come back. If you look at the FAQ sticky, it's there as well...
