Ok, I am new to the Deuce craze. I have a 1953 Willys CJ3A. While restoring my CJ, I found a deuce like the one above that has the multifuel engine and is complete like the one in the above poster's photos. I bought it for $1200 and drove it home. Is this a good deal? The damn thing will practically drive over everybody else's car here in Tulsa, OK.

Dang Skippy! $1200 for a runner is always good. They are really fun trucks. There is just something about a truck that was so purpose built that almost no consideration was given to driver ammenities. Maybe when the original design came to light back in 1949 all people were 5'6" Whew, think I'll take my tractor for a morning cruise!

JackO;
How did you steal that thing for $1200? I paid $1750 for mine straight from Uncle Sam (check my link)! People here are willing (and able) to pay $5000 and up! Nice score!

Rat, the crazy thing is that I had no idea that I would ever want one of these things. I just stepped up to it, got inside, turned on the battery power and pushed the button. Hooked. The man who sold it to me is a friend from high school, and he gets these things from time to time to dismantle and use the rear ends for his rockcrawlers. He was a little hesitant to let go of it at first, I think his price fell out of his mouth before he could think twice. This particular deuce is white at this time and seems to be in perfect working order. It has the hard top, the only dent was in the top of the hood that I have popped out with little effort. I will admit, it does need the three lever light switch for the dash (had to drive it home on back roads, and during the day!), but already has the proper multi-pronged acceptor for this switch on the dash. Need some new 24V bulbs all around as well. Would like some info on where these can be obtained.

sweet deal! if your friend has any more let me know, hehehe. I would have gone the auction route, or look for one in that price range, but didn't want to deal with the hassle. In researching I came across plenty of horror stories of sweet deals, and the moral was always you get what you pay for.

I chose that one cause it was the closest I could find (still 421 miles away), had low miles, had good options, and had an engine rebuild recently.

But damn, if I had a friend selling one for that price....
enjoy your new ride, I'm jealous <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_jawdrop.gif" alt="Jawdrop">

Saturn is definately the place to go, we just got a whole box full of bulbs to replace the burnt out ones in our Deuce cab.

Also, just about anything you could ever need to replace on them, gaskets, filters, etc. can be obtained from good ol' Saturn

Thats what i paid for mine was $1200 bucks, but mine did come with a loud knocking in the engine which i didn't care, i had my deuce!, eventually the crank did let go while i was moving it out of the way but as of tomorrow i have an engine being delivered tomorrow, so im happy with it, solid truck except for engine.
My neigbor was like what the hell do you want with that thing, guess he will find out when he gets stuck up here and i pull him out LOL.... matter of fact just today he told me to take it to a junkyard,,, i said ohhh noooo and laughed at him... what can i say once a diesel head all ways a diesel head.
