Hi,
I bought my first diesel ever today, a 1985 1008...absolutely thrilled, drove it home an around town, through some mud to try out the 4 wheel drive. Everything was perfect. Then, 6 hours after purchase (it has 36000 miles) it won't start. It makes a terrible screaming sound. I whack the starter with a pipe wrench...nothing changes. I roll it forward to catch flywheel (both in neutral and drive) and again nothing. Only that screaming sound. Called previous owner, who seems to have taken great care of the truck, and he says it's never done that before, and I tend to Believe him. What the $&@!? Any ideas what cause this and what to do?
