New 923A1 ... Several questions??

I just picked up my 923 on monday, and have several questions....

1) What is the best source for touchup camo paint?

2) What is the best for sealing seams or small pin-holes in the cargo bed cover?

3) What is a good source for replacement Cargo Bow screws?

Any info would be much appreciated.... Thanks!!

I used military 100mph duct tape to seal the holes from the inside. Way better than gorilla duct tape or anything I have seen.

I used plain old galvanized coarse thread screws from home depot. I would also recommend using bolts in the corners along with the side snap latches. On rough terrain you can rattle those latches open and the bow droops down. It takes longer to take them down but i leave mine up all the time.

I've seen some kind of clear rubbery material on the cargo covers on the USAF trucks on base... any idea what that might be? I've asked the guys on base, but none of the military guys know, as they don't work on them... jsut drive them.

That sounds like clear silicone rubber sealer like for windows and bathrooms at any hardware.

-I use color matched Behr Exterior Latex paint from Home Depot.

-I use RTV smeared onto the holes (smeared on the inside of the cover)

3) What is a good source for replacement Cargo Bow screws?

-Good question, when you find some let me know. Haven't been able to track them down.

Try Pli-bond, available at most Ace hardware stores. It is a contact cement, and it can be used in layers to simply coat an area(pin holes and seams).

It will look just like the original seam sealant when dry.

The Rapco paint is a good color match. It is not CRAC but it is a good color match if you CRAC is newer.

I put a search into eBay for the panhead screws (search by part number from the TMs) and came with an exact match of 100 in the box for less than $10. I guess I'm in screws for awhile now.

AERVOE makes paint in spray cans ( Military Vehicle & Recreation Camouflage Paint :: Paints and Coatings :: Industrial, Maintenance, and Construction Chemical Products :: Aervoe Industries Inc. ) woodland green sku 990, earth brown sku 999 and black sku 988 are the colors i use they match up great with my trucks. This stuff works great.

I bought the Rapco paint for my CUCV. It is available in spray cans or 1 Gallon cans. Price it actually reasonably priced for this paint. Rapco Parts Company

Rustoleum camo paint is an exact match for tan, and olive drab. They also make a truck bed coating in the tan color, which makes the underside of the M923 look great. when we are slow, i have 2 of my guys use rapid strip 4 1/2" pads to go down to bare metal and the we use filler primer, and use the rustoleum rattle cans.
