Yes even if bobbed, the 5 tons fall into over 20k weight category and full airbrakes require class A or B.
5 tons are nice and I love my m818 but if I purchase another truck, it will be a deuce. Welcome to California by the way and it's good to see people out here gettin the green fever!

Cali DMV says "any" 3 axle = commercial B. It doesn't say anything about historical vehicle exception.

I buckled down and got a commercial class B. It's not a big deal and gives me peace of mind.
