Hello all, I’m Joey Hunt from Buchanan Ga. I was encouraged to join by a friend on mine, that I’m currently doing some paint and body work to his M1008, and he wanted me to share it in his thread about the truck. I’m a long time lover of MVs, and sadly I don’t currently have one at the moment. I had a M880, and that’s what got my love started for these machines. I’ve grown a love for the CUCV-IIs, especially the Suburbans. Once I finish the M1008 I’m working on, I’ve got a 97 K2500 Suburban I plan to clone to as close as I can to as issued (less having 24v). I look forward to learning what I can about these seemingly hard to find units. Be on the lookout for that once I get started. Thanks again for having me!

Welcome to the outfit!
Yep, both eyes open for a "new to you" truck real soon.

Howdy from just north of Houston. It’s funny how a long time love of MVs and likeminded friends will drive one to this site. I may or may not be speaking from experience.

Welcome!
It is funny. Being around a few, and seeing what few around, has always filed my interest. I had seen this site a few times on google when searching things, but never thought to join. About 7 years ago I bought a Dodge M880. I loved the truck(less a few gripes). Always being a Chevrolet man, the 318 seemed as solid an engine as a SBC ever was. It ran great. The only issues I had with it was 1) the rust in the roof of the cab, around the drip rail (why I sold it), and 2) the NP203 transfer case shifter is junk (never had an issue per say with the case itself). After selling it I’ve wanted another MV. After @patracy and I got to talking, he’s the one that suggested that I clone my K2500 Suburban to a CUCV-II. After joining here and doing some research, it’s funny to me how many of those were just off the line regular civi trucks, that had some stuff added was all (unlike going down the line at Chevrolet like the CUCV). So for now to keep my wife happy (she says I have too many vehicles as it is) I’m going to clone it to fill my MV wants and desires, while I look around for something else.

Being able to paint it and having some nice lines will make it easier to sell.
Might even help you fund the next truck with the proceeds...

Welcome from N. Georgia, I'd be careful hanging around that patracy, he's a a super great guy but I'd be afraid he might pawn other projects off on you. I'm sure he's told you about the upcoming rally, hope to you can make it,

Appreciate it! @patracy is a great guy, and a good friend, and what I’m doing for him now he’s been asking me for about 2 years now. I’ve finally found the time to get this part of what he wants completed, headed towards a finished state. If there are more projects to have work done, we’ll cross that bridge once it gets here.
