Hi everybody. JP here. Thanks for accepting me as a member. Long time admirer of M35s and M135s. Ran across one yesterday that I couldn’t pass up. Batteries were dead, unable to jump start it. Owner assured me it runs and drives and that the winch works. Should be able to get it home in a day or two. Then we’ll get started on the fun stuff!

Wow JP, it looks like you have a nice rig there! If she will crank and roll, everything else if just "making it purty". Definitely snap up some pictures when you can. How far is it "to home"? It could be that an hour or so under the truck checking gear oil and inspecting for brake fluid or oil seal leaks. You definitely don't want to burn something up because fluid was low...

Nice GMC! Red River Parts in New Boston can help you with troop seats and Feltz Tire across I-30 from there may have 7 new 11.00's for you.
Someone kept that truck in a barn for a long long time. Love the USA number 41111124, easy to stencil back on.

You know, I hadn’t even thought about New Boston for tires! That’s an easy two hour drive from me. I thought the number was pretty cool too.

Thanks! I’m planning to take a trailer over and hauling it home (30 miles) rather than risk tearing something up.

Good deal! Definitely the smart way to go.

If you haven't already cranked or tried to crank it, you might want to inspect the fuel tank really well before you try to fire it off. If you open the fuel filler and it stinks rather than like good gas, it might be worth avoiding slurping "gunk" into your carb.

Funny thing! The original fuel tank is gone. Someone has rigged a tiny little 5 gallon or so gas tank in the bed with an electric fuel pump. There’s also a brand new carb on the motor. The fuel in the tank is around 2 yrs old

My first big job will be to take out that fuel tank, pump and gas lines all the way to the carb and put in a decent tank pump & lines.

Looks great for a 70-year-old truck! It amazes me how long these rigs can last!

That bed is a hard one to find in good shape - most have been removed or replaced by now.

Anyone notice these "straps" welded onto the sides of the bed at the wheelwell opening? I thought it was more squared off, but looks like these were welded on as an after-thought. Any ideas?

I’m amazed at the overall shape of it.

I’m going to look into the braces you’re talking about. There is an I beam support structure welded inside the bed where someone has mounted a tank. Maybe a grass fire rig. I’m wondering if maybe those braces add rigidity to the bed for a tank.

Maybe a tie-down for the canvas top?

All the M135s had those, the M34 Reo did not.
