About ready to fab the exhaust, has anyone tried to use the early M35 exhaust with the inlet and outlet on the same end?, looks like it's doable, 81/2" dia. x 15" lenght, $35 shipped to door. Thanks, Hambone

After building the jig and welding up the first muffler the fabricating boys got a little nervous about 'selling' the new mufflers across the border. The challenges with warranty, liability insurance, export permits, a small market and quality customer service makes it cost prohibitive to make a viable business plan. I've been running the new one all summer so still jabbing these guys to come up with some more. The worst case scenario they're worried about are the old gassers that can make the mufflers go boom and having to warranty a product where they can't manage the application. I've been running the new one all summer and am confident these guys know what they're doing, just need to get them over the fraidy cat factor.

What kind of costs are you looking at for the M35 muffler set-up? It might be easier/cheaper to bend a few pipes and come up with a system to install available NOS mufflers then get one these over the border.

Maybe one day we can own one of those mufflers:grd:but for now I am planning on matching the inlet on the muffler with the pipe coming in, mount the muffler in that position, weld an elbow onto the outlet, use a small piece of flex pipe to mount to my stack, local shop will bend me a stack for $30, weld a leftover flange to the stack so I can use my NOS upper stack, total cost $100. Hambone

I purchased everything to do what you are discussing Hambone. Except I went with a muffler to fit a Chevy car. I believe it was from a 80-something impala. Muffler was $70 and a friend bent up some pipes. Purchased some real 12" flex that had exhaust pipe ends and stainless braided center. Good stuff. The pipe ended up being 2.25" but it was looking good! Then I stumbled upon a good original muffler while on vacation for $20. I re-vamped my plan. Using my 20/20 hindsight, it would have been easier to mount the impala stuff, but the goal was "original".
For $100 I say do it!

That muffler would make anybody proud. But I don't understand the "exploding" part. Back in the old days, I drove those trucks all over the North, thousands of miles, & never had a muffler backfire.

I'm glad to see the enthuasiam for them. It makes me want to go out & kick tires in my bone yard & helps rationalize why I haven't hauled any of it to the dump. Yes I know --- Pictures.

Could you measure the length of that harness and let me know? I am going to build my own, but don't want to pull the old one out of my truck just yet.

How much did you end up paying for that if you don't mind saying?
