New proud German owner of a M923A1 (02/1984)

Hello from Germany!
First of all I want to say sorry for my bad English...I'll have to brush it up.
2 weeks ago I bought my M923A1 in a pretty good condition.

But now there are minor (hopefully minor) changings on the truck, that need to be done in this f*****g (sorry) country, to become the allowance to drive it on public streets.
I drove it from the seller to me back home and later in to a German specialist to do this special changings to keep the truck original as far as possible...it was a lot of fun to drive this spartan little monster and it already passed more than 700 km / 450-500 mls.
I will pic it up this upcoming Thursday and it is like a little child is waiting for Christmas. *lol*
I'm looking forward to meet a lot of new friends around here and getting tricks and advices using this special vehicle, having a lot of fun for a very long time.

What I know of is, that the head and tail lights need to be changed. The German TÜV (technical control department for vehicles) want red rear lights and yellow "direction-lights". The red position lights in the rear need to be yellow to...totally crazy. And you need a very good relationship with the TÜV to get the documents to get the allowance to drive it on public streets.

Yes I do also like this came paint. I'm thinking of changing the soft top and get the bigger tires, without CTIS. And a light wight MG mount would be awesome!

It feels pretty familiar to be around here. I will need a lot of time to do research around here, before asking silly questions.

My "specialist" told me, that my truck requires a new electric to control the head lights and in Germany is necessary that the baking-lights and turn signals need to work all the time. No more stealth mode.

The problem with military oldtimer in Germany is, that the need to fit into the requirements of the street security laws...I guess there is no other country that can do complicated things even more complicated!
Another problem is that vehicles in Germany need a document called "Kraftfahrzeugbrief" (=book signing) and especially US-ARMY vehicles never have had this document...and to get it afterwards, you need to do some changings.

But the specialist does not integrates new switchs, he uses the original light switch with new electric, cable etc.so I can still use all the original switches.

I am very, very excited...and the time is runing, because I need the truck on Thursday for an event.

Later I want to add the bigger wheels and a gun mount on top. The mount is pretty hard and expensive to get it around here. The specialist recommended the offroad wheels from Goodyear, because they drive more comfortable on normal streets like the Michelin wheels. Do you guys have some experiences for me?
