Hi there!

I'll keep it short and relevant. I'm a history nerd from CA, living in WA currently, considering turning a deuce into an RV for affordable rent purposes (looking at law schools, the top schools all seem to have obscenely high rent in their zip codes, and I'd prefer to use my housing allowance on something that I'd actually get to keep). A friend of mine made some slight modifications to an M109 and that seems to have worked out OK, aside from minor issues that any homeowner or truck owner would run into. Any recommendations you guys have for me? Due to cost/rarity of M109s I'd consider an M35 + S280, but finding affordable M35s and S280s doesn't exactly seem too easy either.

Have you considered the 5 ton expandable van. They have lots of room. I turned mine into a game room for a while and it worked well. I don't remember the exact dim but I think it is about 17' x 14' or so expanded.

If I had to chose one from all it would be a 809 series cargo with a trailer. A Deuce is cute but a 809 series rules.
You can add the big 53's no problem, True power steering and with the manual transmission if you got something to drag it she will run.

Here are som pics of my backyard. Code enforcement pitched a fit so I sold a few trucks to hire an attorney. I kept the tractor, 2 trailers, expandable van, and some other misc stuff till I finish with the court case. Its been going since 2013 and they still can't figure out what to charge me with they just keep saying "we are going to charge you with some thing we just don't know what yet". Be sure to have a place to park anything you get and a backup location if something goes wrong with the first place.

PolyMerc's looks interesting, I don't yet have a place to park it, but that seems a slightly lesser hassle compared to procurement and refurb, and judging by my friend's hassles, planning a lot of time for refurb and repair is a good idea.

If you spend a few extra dollars up front and get a good one it will save you lots of $$$ and hassle in the long run. I got lucky with mine - another approach is to get a bunch and keep the best ones for yourself!!!

Crazy Wolf, welcome aboard from Nevada. A good friend of mine has a 5 ton expandable van, and with a little work they make a great home.

KC5 WOW- nice back yard. Ask your lawyer to look into a non profit museum or educational history display. Not knowing what to charge you with? That sounds like harassment. I thought Texas hadn't gone full retard yet.

98G Nice tires! I like the M8xx series 5 ton the best. Are you planning on upgrading the tires on the trailer? Very Cool Setup!!!

I love your collection ! Don't let the "jack booted thugs" push you around. They told me years ago to clean out my place and I said I would sue them if they tried. They never came back. Unless you live in a area that has a designated covenant prohibiting the trucks then make them show you the law that says your trucks are in violation. Stand up for yourself and don't let them bully you.

Where do you live in Texas? I will be moving in with you ASAP! I simply loved my expando with a 5 KW on the tongue, when I ran a shop office out of one. Snug, warm and good lights. Yeah, now if I could just talk the old lady into it.
