recently purchased a M51A2 (dump) truck. Unable to find a model or year on the data plates on the dash. found where it has been refurbished. trying to determin for Michigan Title

Sometimes a hint can be obtained the contract #. Starting in the 60's the year of the contract is buried in there.

I don't know if they were putting on engine tags (like Cummins), but there may be a year on it.

Post your VIN and maybe we can figure it out. The multifuel 5 tons were built from about 1965 to 1969, when the 800 series replaced them.

Might work but check the front spring hangers for date it was stamped. Seems too have been correct on my 1970's 5 tons.
