NHC 250 Engine Swap Options

The local Forestry asked me if I knew what other engine might swap in for a NHC 250? The cylinder sleeve corroded through and the rebuild cost was quite high. They have a special body on the truck and would rather swap in another engine.

I understand you said that they'd rather swap in another engine, but make sure you tell them that a running take-out motor can be as cheap as $1,500. I believe John Appel was selling one for that price, but check with him to confirm it. While the NHC250 has its flaws, it is a good durable motor, even if it is a bit underpowered.
