Its quite a bit of wrenching...for anyone...and yes the heads are heavy and sharp on the mating surfaces edges..lol...like picking up a toaster oven that weighs 70lbs with razor blades all over it...what a combo...lol

Changing head gaskets on a Cummins isn't a walk in the park. I just got done doing a N14.

Not only do the heads weigh a ton, you have three of them and you have the rocker boxes to deal with.
Sissy! Try an ISX! The NHC is a less than 1 day job. The N14 about 7 hrs for all 3 with brakes. 36 hrs for an ISX with good access. And, BTW, to do 1 head gasket on an NHC, you only need to remove the rocker box on the head you are removing.

I wanted to ask if the part number for the "correct" gasket in post 15 has the same part number as the "incorrect" one? I have a gasket set but it's the silver one with the bead around the outside, aka "incorrect". Having a part nubmer to get the correct gasket would really really help.

Thanks,

Thanks for posting. I already have the gasket set. Is there a number on your box for the head gasket by itself?

Thanks again,
