NP242 vs NP2225?

I just picked up a Rev truck and am sourcing parts to make it run again. No transmission or transfer case.
I have a NP242 that needs a new cooling loop. It could be rebuilt to work I think.
Are there differences in the two cases as far as splines, dimensions, or flanges for the prop shafts that I should be aware of?
I know the 242 has a trans fluid cooling loop in it and the 2225 has a coolant loop. Just not sure if I need to spend the extra loot for the 2225

SIr, any luck finding out if you can use a 224 instead of a 2225? I'm in the same situation. I do have NOS NP242s just need the gearing for the speedo.

There are cooling lines to deal with from the lower radiator pipe as well as the hard lines to the transfer case. It wouldn’t be too hard to make a 242 work as it is roughly the same foot print. The cooling lines for the 242 come off the transmission fluid lines so you will need the older stuff to run it and remove the lines that were for the 2225
