NSN Numbers?

I was looking for the NSN number for my 1951 M135.

Found one site that after digging found two different numbers 2320008351 & 2320008352 but they were kind of vague and both numbers were issued in 1970?

Anyone have any info on NSN numbers for early M135's or does the date really matter?

NSNs didn’t show up until the 1970s if I remember right. The correct format for an NSN is xxxx-xx-xxx-xxxx so the numbers you listed are missing some digits if they’re even the right ones. There probably will be 2 different NSNs for m135s, one number for the truck with winch and one for the truck without winch.

Snow Track is correct. First came the FSN. 0000-000-0000. The the NSN. 0000-00-000-0000. Now it can look like this. 0000-01-000-0000. If the part is from another country, it can look like this. 0000-12-000-0000. This is for Germany.

You are missing a number, in your FSN's you found. the 2320 first four mean that its a truck. But you are missing one more digit. Date should not matter. do you not have a data plate on your truck? Mostly its in the cab.

In 1973 I help drive the absolute last of the gasers from Bamburg to Böbblingen Can Point. Well, we had to line haul 5 of them, but the other 9 made in on their own power.

I am going to hazard that this is not the original data plate. No contract number, or stock number. I am going to ask someone I know in TACOM to see if the historian can help. Can you make a better picture of the data plate? cant promise anything.

I suppose I should have clarified that I have never seen the contract number and FSN on an M135 data plate. Sorry for the confusion.


These are 3 of the 4 data plates off of the trucks I own. Is it possible the Ord. Stock Number stamped on two of the plates is the number that is being searched for?

Yep, the last 7 digits of the ORD number is what we needed.
The NSN for an m135 without winch is 2320-00-835-8351.

For some reason in the 1955 TM the data plates for all the models except the m135 have the ord numbers on them.

While you have your book open what would be the NSN for M135 w/winch?
Well the book doesn’t actually say but I would guess it’s 2520-00-835-8352 which also shows up as an m135 on a google search. The book has all the truck numbers except for the m135s for some reason.

Is there a TM for the M135? Mostly, the cover, or inside of the -24P, (or 34P) will tell you the difference.
The WWII supply and technical manuals had a different numbering system. The parts manuals were known as ORD 7-8-9 for a particular SNL (Standard Nomenclature List) which was the official name of the vehicle (item, IE the Grarand Rifle had it's own SNL). The TM's started as two or three digits, and quickly went into four digits. That is why they went to the four digit SIC (Standard Industrial Classification Code) identifier for all TM's shortly thereafter, with a further prefix as to it's grouping (01 for aircraft, 09 for vehicles, etc.). I did a writeup on how to interpret current TM numbers, just need to re-locate it and post it to a sticky.
