Anyone who wants to attend the New York City Vets Parade is welcome to attend thru the MTA Convoy this Sunday, I need to know the vehicle type and driver cell number and name . Please send it to randyemr@aol.com and I will confirm with you, this is the largest Vets Parade in the country, it truly is an amazing event,

The Parade kicks off every year on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month every year,

We start our convoy from the Dover Armory, rt80 to exit 34 rt 15 south 1/4 mile on left, cant miss it, We pull out sharp at 0610.

We muster at the 6 Brothers Diner on rt 46 in fairfield right before rt 3 , There we pull out with a Police escort 0810 sharp thru the Lincoln tunnel right to our staging area off 5th avenue, we are the only group that shows up with an escort and man all I can say it is the best ever !! I have been in quite a few escorts with our vehicles over the years, But man the escort we receive is second to none, The city stops for us, :)

It is a long day worth every second, dress warm bring drinks and snacks, there are delis every where, we get to watch about half or so of the awesome parade, it is over 3 hours long !! :) We re group at a BBQ place right before leaving the city, you will get info when staging on the address just incase we get separated after the main parade and there we will grab a bite. the owner has the Police section off the street in front for us , This is a well planned and fun day, If you are in the area and can make it , it is worth it, Love to see as many people enjoy this wonderful day and amazing parade as possible, .... Thanks randy 973 219 4499 is my cell randyemr@aol.com is my e mail it is this Sunday.

Pete you are in and welcome like any and ALL Military vehicles :) The more the better, The thousands of New yorkers that line the streets really is something to see, Thank you signs to our Soldiers and vets, Pics of Parents, Grand parents and family members who have served and are serving line the streets also,

Those of us who have not served in uniform that do these parades, in the MTA believe we are ambassadors to a great nation of Soldiers second to none. We accept those salutes and waves as Patriots knowing and feeling all the Love and Honor that is just pouring out to our Veterans, and Soldiers, We feel we are an important part of what this country stands for , And thru these Historic Military Vehicles, We are Keeping our military history alive, and in the minds of ALL Americans we are able to show them too, So Pete Your Pinz is every bit a Military vehicle with all its Honor and those who used it, and its an Honor to have it.

Parade Pics

Hi,

Sunday was a great day to give thanks and remember all that has been sacrificed by our Veteran's from all theaters of war. There was less of an active MV presence and rightfully so being utilized instead for hurricane relief efforts but the enthusiasm from active, retired Vets and the public was no less than any other year. Met some new MV owners and chatted it up over all things MV.

I didn't have my equipment trailer with me this year so there was less to worry about. The group I volunteer for has quite the spread of food for their members before the parade, enough for over 150 people. There wasn't much time to eat so the majority of the catered fare went untouched. They have a banquet afterwards so they couldn't take it with them. It would've been a shame to waste such good food so we thought: "why not give this food to those who really need it?" We knew just the place to go.

Heading back downtown we crossed over the Manhattan Bridge and headed down Flatbush Ave. all the way to the shore communities that were devastated by the storm. It's a controlled chaos down there with all the cleanup equipment & police/fire traffic etc. We were able to give out half the food before sundown. The residents were very happy and appreciative of the water, sandwiches, chips, cookies, pastries, bagels, utencils, etc. after spending another hard and dirty day gutting/cleaning out their flooded homes. After dark we headed to the local V.F.W. where they had refrigeration and could sort and distribute the rest without it going bad. They also were very grateful and thanked us for the surprise visit. It put our minds at ease knowing the abundance of food was utilized in a productive manner.

Here are pics of the day in chronological order:

The NYC MTA Convoy went without a hitch as usual, And the police escort right to our street was awesome as usual, We also for the last 2 years have been stopping at Daisy Mae's BBQ right before exiting thru the tunnel, For a BBQ dinner, its on the MTA for members and guests of the convoy, we ALL enjoyed it so very much, When we park there we always have the City Police waiting to let us park right in front with out a hitch every year, Its hey guys put the Jeeps on the side walk !! Simply awesome, Has to be experienced to be believed just how great it is , it is the largest Vet Parade our Nation has. We left the city as a group like always, never lost a man or left one behind...:)
