Time for a cut out, patch in, and seal everything.
3M body panel seal
large sheet of body paneling
lots of grinding and sanding

Remember, wear a mask and dont end up on the transplant list like I am for doing stupid crap.

No doubt! You don't realize how big it is until you stand at the back and your shoulders are level with the floor. To borrow a quote from Oddball007, "you got to be Spiderman to get up to the door handle"!

Make friends with a bleach bottle and scrub brush while wearing a respirator.
I have several 4 foot round fans which will keep it well ventiliated while you are working on it if you need them. You dont want to be in there without them.

I would install Styrofoam up there, wont mold as easy as that rockfill they used. and it has a better R value. If you need 4'x4'x2" thick sheets of it. I have stacks of them in my shop. The race car guy friends of mine use it to protect the drivers compartment area. But right now there is a stack about 9 foot high in there and my wife brings more and more home from her work. Best part of all, ITS FREEEEEEE

Just took another pile of it to the shop. Some of this is 1/2" thick, a good spacer if needed. I also have a couple of large blocks which are great for setting a boat hull on while repairing the trailer.
I told my wife to bring home everything else she gets from her work from now on. Sometimes she gets that dense foam with the foil on both sides encased in clear water tight plastic sheets.

I have my entire attic layered with it 4" thick, plus the batting between rafters, and 18" of blown on top of that. Works great.

Best part of this to you is, ITS FREEEEEEE
