Civilian transportation is welcome, bikes, walking, hitch hiking etc, any mode of transportation is necessary. Truck not being ready is not an excuse. Get to the Rally, you will thank yourself
What the Boss said. If you are short of lunch money the MKT is always looking for KP's and they eat free. Come on down and have the time of your life. This might be the official theme song for the rally:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvCgSqPZ4EM

Well folks, it looks like I'm moving my personal residence on 28 September. We put our house on the market last week just to see what would happen (with low expectation of anything happening) and in two days flat, it was under contract.

Now we have to move. We signed a deal on another house in the same county yesterday.

I'm still planning on coming to the rally, but only for a couple of days instead of the full week that I had been planning.

In my best Yosemite Sam voice, "Oooohhh, I hates movin'!"

Unacceptable. Just hire someone to move you!

I posted on over on Guns and Rovers and hope to stir up a few from there. Some Mog guys hide over there too so that would be cool! Euro invasion!
Clinto, you worked too hard last year! Hope you are able to relax this go around. The wife loved the rally so I guess she will be coming too! I didn't get the time to get her M151A2 together this year. She loved the trail riding so much she wanted her own ride! I blame ya'll! :p

I somehow tricked Swiss into taking it this year, so I suspect it will be far more laid back for me!

This sounds like a lot of fun! Might look into coming down!
We started in 2006 with about a dozen people in my backyard for a cookout and in 6 years, grew to an event with over 100 vehicles, 150+ if you count mil trailers. Good swap meet, great offroading, it really is an awesome event.

For scale, the MVPA National Convention, an event that's something like 30 years old, had somewhere around 100 vehicles in 2012.

You should definitely come down!

More of the camping and parking will be shifted down the hill behind the MKT? Hmmmm. Might have to come up earlier to get my spot between the trees! I was enjoying the solitude and quiet being all out there by myself. :) Guess I'll shift further back into the woods and put up camo net and concertina wire! Kidding about the concertina.....Maybe MINES signs tho! :cookoo: That is a nice primitive camping area down there.
Got to fix a leak on one of the fuel tanks on the Rover so I don't have to make so many fuel stops this time.
Cheapest gas I found around there was near the interstate. Just have to remember how to get there, we were lost and cruising around when we found it! (GPS? What's that?) Good thing I had my fuel cans with me.

Yes. Although Ferro's wrecker puzzle took up a lot of the field, it was still crowded and people who made large purchases had to deal with tight aisles to get the wares to their vehicles.

So we felt that since D-town isn't charging for or limiting our space that we would take advantage of it and use some of that wooded area. A bonus is that it's nice and shady. When the sun is out, it's nice to have some shade.

Since the rally is more of a social gathering and less of a structured, car show with certain classes of vehicles over here, certain classes over there we feel like letting it grow out into the shaded area is a plus.

If it doesn't work, we'll change it in 2014.

I agree. The 12 hookups in the field are not anywhere near enough.

I should reiterate that since the hookups are a fixed asset, anyone can rent them. If you are just an attendee and not selling anything, you are still free to rent them.

I hope that one day D-town will develop that rear area with hookups and wi-fi but the chances are slim. When Mike moved us out there in 2012, Squirt Truck and I went out there and saw what looked like power hookups and wi-fi. Upon talking to Mike we found out that at one point, D-town was going to develop that entire area behind u, because a BIG concert was planned and it was going to be worth it financially. Unfortunately, the plans for the concert fell apart and it wasn't worth the money to get everything back there done.

I believe Mike said to get wi-fi or power out there was $10K (I don't remember which, maybe ST does).

The Ga Rally will probably not every make enough $$$ for D-town in invest in that infrastructure so all we can hope for is some other event that will make it possible.
