I have not shared a lot of these with the general forum yet-some of the SSGR staff have seen these, but not the general population.

If you have been living under a rock the last 5 years, Durhamtown is an offroading and camping facility in Eastern Georgia where we've been hosting the Ga. Rally since 2008. They have thousands of acres of trails that are suitable for our big equipment.

Squirt-Truck, Dumpster and I are friends with a bunch of Land Rover guys (we know them from work-outside of the MV hobby) and they take annual trips to D-town, usually in February because it's the best hope for some wet weather. They invited us in 2012 and 2013 and these are the pictures and videos we captured.

In 2012 it was a little dryer and my Dad drove my Mule and I had my M35A2C. In 2013 it was really wet and intermittently misting, so the Mule stayed in the trailer and the Deuce did all the work.

All I can say is if you've only been to Durhamtown when it's dry, you have no idea how much fun it can be. As you can see in the attached photos and videos, some lower areas were completely flooded.

I have grabbed some of the best shots from the 2013 album and am posting them below, but here are links to the complete 2012 and 2013 albums:

Cool pics. I've grown away from mud but have plenty of fond memories. Nothing finer than showing up at the local watering hole an hour before last call covered with ice cold mud and sporting a frozen beard or moustache. Yup, we went "guttin" in every season. It's amazing how quiet snow makes the woods.

Did you guys go through the trail where we hook-slid the deuces the first year?
Yes, but after 2008, D-town went out and flattened out a lot of those bowls to remove the issues we had with heavy vehicles falling into the hole.

Imagine how gorgeous and fun the SSGR would be with about 12-18" of snow at D-town.

Yep. Windows down, heater on high. The best time to memorize the trails was when the trees had no leaves. Back in our mud hey-days, we always went guttin' any time it rained. That Georgia red clay gets a special kind of slick when it's wet. And it stains the bejeezus out of clothing.

Six inches of snow would absolutely cripple the south. 12-18" would be a calamity beyond comprehension.

The biggest downside of offroading is cleanup-it's worse than the maintenance. The instant I can afford it, I am buying a steam cleaner. We cleaned our M38A1 with a friend's steam cleaner after the 2009 rally and it was fast and amazingly clean-the Jeep didn't look like it had ever left the asphalt.

Ain't that what we keep chains in the trucks for???
Clintogf has a set of 9:00x20 chains she has had no luck selling, I think they're gonna' find their way into my stash.

It would be cool but a lot of the older crowd may not go for the snow and the cold
