Oil Filter Check Valves Recommended? - 2010 Melton Rebuild 6.5

I have a 2003 M1123 with a 6.5 Melton Rebuild in 2010. I've researched oil filters till I'm tired. The huge lists of filter options usually give more than one option by the same filter manufacturer. For example Wix 51060 and a 51061, one has a check valve and one doesn't. It makes a big difference on some engines but I would like to know what one of the EXPERTS think about this engine. No offense but being an expert poster doesn't make you a diesel mechanic : ) I want to use what's best for my truck. Thank you guys!

I've used the WIX 51060 for years and have no problem with them.
That one has a check valve...
They all are just fine…ive been using Fram PH5’s for 20yrs, recently in the last 2yrs or so, switched to
AC Delco PF1218, I buy them in cases of 10 or more for the shop.
US military uses same filter.
Thank You Sir! I appreciate your expertise and reputation.

I bought 2 of the Wix 51061. It was listed as it fits. I found them on Amazon for 4.59 ea and free shipping. I don’t know how big of deal the check valve is. I have yet to use them

It's my understanding that those are the ones without check valves. Years ago some Chevrolet Trucks/Tahoes were noisy when they cranked without one.

Wix 51060 and the NAPA Gold 1060 I believe are the same filter (one of each setting on my desk now) each has a drain back valve. It is my understanding the valve is used when the filter is mounted sideways or even slightly downward to prevent oil drain back. HMMWV's are mounted sideways. You didn't"t ask but Shell Rotella 15/40 works great in diesels.

The filters with an anti-drainback valve are recommended.
Not only for the sideways mounting, but I believe also to help keep the large volume of oil in the high mounted oil cooler.
Reduces the delay in getting pressurized oil to the bearings on startup by not having to fill up these empty reservoirs first.

Thats my understanding of the issue at least
