Gotcha so how do I relate that to ordering parts on line for my engine ?

If you don't give that number to the parts man, he will be shooting in the dark.

Usually your 8 digit engine serial number (ESN) is all that is needed to get gaskets, castings etc. Your critical parts list number (CPL) comes into play for any component that affects horsepower rating ie; injectors, cam, injector pump, etc.

Critical Parts List. That type of ordering has gone the way of the DoDo. An engine serial number is all that's needed. If your local parts place can't help you, PM me with the ESN and the parts you need.
