Depends on when it was built. The change happened in July 1942 according to this thread: G503.com Message Forums • View topic - Time line round muffler replacement?

Also, you might look and see if your jeep still has any brackets on the bottom side of the body. The round muffler had larger (3"-4" in diameter) clamps that went around the muffler. The later oval muffler had smaller clamps (1 1/2" diameter) that just went around the pipe forward and aft of the muffler if I remember correctly... Good luck!
