Hey there. I took my radiator to my local shop, and they boiled it soldiered the leaks and pressure tested it. All for $45. $48 after tax.
That was 3 years ago. Rad still good!
Alright so here’s what I got. Reassembled it with new anti freeze mixed 70/30 or a little heavier for the cold wisconsin winters. Last year hit -46 where I keep it. Ran around and temp gauge said 200F. Got out my laser. Thermostat housing on both sides read 180. Top of rad was 145. Bottom of Radiator was 94 engine various locations such as head and all over block about 120-140. Inlet by temp sender 179. So I think my gauge is just 20F high. I am going to drive it around hard next weekend to see if I can get it to go higher/ see how high it will go.
Finally I was looking in the manual and didn’t see anything. There is a small canister with a drain cock right next to the lower radiator hose. It looks like it runs from the air compressor. What is it? When the truck runs I can drain fluid from it but when the truck is off I can’t.
