P/N for PTO

Great site, been reading it for quite some time.

The NSN for a PTO unit on the M35a2 transmission (Spicer 3053a) is 2520-00-706-1137.

I've been told PTO NSN 2520-00-740-9588 is for the same application, but cannot verify this. Would this be an updated PTO with a p/n change? Can anyone confirm if this latter p/n is for the same application?

The only 2 transmission PTOs I can find for the deuce is the one you listed and 2520-00-706-1136 applicable to the M342A2 deuce dump. Can't find anything on that other part number.

Hmmm........ Check out this link on Epay. Perhaps the p/n on the box is a package number and not the part #. Dunno.

Thanks Jason. What tranny does the 5T use? Different than 2 1/2T I'm guessing.

Yeah it uses the Spicer 6352 or 6453.

I emailed the seller, guy says he has sold a number of them, all went on 2 1/2 T's with no problems. Perhaps the PTO/transmission interface is the same for 3053's, 6352's and 6453's. I think I'll email a previous buyer to see if it went on a duece for sure.

I seriously doubt it...


While the Deuces and M809 series 5tons share the same PTO housings (NSN 2520-00-706-1160), their input - or driven gears are different - as well as many other internal parts.

So, thirteen years later.... the correct answer to the OP is NO, you can't interchange them!
NSN 2520-00-706-1137 is the PTO for the Spicer 3052 and 3053 2-1/2t transmissions while NSN 2520-00-740-9588 goes on the 5-ton Spicer 6352 and 6453 models.
