I am looking at a truck to buy but it needs paint, with it being a 50s modle former air force truck i would like to go back to the blue they used.

Does any one have the paint codes or color for this blue?

Thank you
Kevin

Rapco makes a premixed, correct shade Strata Blue in an Alkyd enamel. It's a simple, single stage paint, just thin it and shoot it. Everything about it is good for the most part: cheap, easy to shoot, very correct color, covers really well (it's a thick paint with heavy solids), etc.

The biggest downside is that lie all Rapco/Gillespie paint, it just doesn't like being left out in the sun. If you can keep it in a carport or garage, it will last forever. It's not a catalyzed paint, so it doesn't harden and bond the way a 2 stage paint does.

Ord9 makes super high quality paints (they've now sold out to Midwest Military) but they aren't doing Strata Blue. Wish they would.

You can also take the # NDT gave in the post above and have a local paint shop mix up paint.

Here's my buddy's USAF Dodge W200 I painted 2 years ago with Gillespie Strata Blue:

And here are some Strata Blue deuces and all these pictures are out of order because this site can't manage images at all.
