PCB boxes

Are all the PCB boxes interchangeable between the 3 series of M939 trucks? Basically I want to know if they all do the same thing from M939 to M939A1 to M939A2. I know of 2 types as I have one of each and one has an electronic curcuit board and the other doesn't. I have been told they do interchange but figured I would post to the experts. Thanks for your answers.

We've had problems using a PCB box from the 250 Cummins on the 8.3 Cummins. An 8.3 Cummins PCB may work on the 250 Cummins engine. There are different numbers printed on the boxes, but I don't have them at hand.

Correct, you can use the 939A2 series on the 809 & 939/A1 series but not the other way around.

All 939A2 series PCB's are interchangeable, it's the 809 and 939/A1 series that aren't. From what I understand it has to do with the fuel shutoff solenoid on the 8.3.

Thanks, I should be good then as I have the NHC250 M923 and just picked up the newer box for a spare. I know that the "First gen" boxes have no electronic curcuits but the later ones have a curcuit board incorperated into them.

I could be wrong but from my understanding the Hickup is with the Neutral Safety switch on the automatic trucks. From what I understood, All 939series boxes will work on the older 809Series but the the 809 series does not work on the 939series truck. Again I could have bad info..

From what I can tell
809 can use 809, 939, 939A1, 939A2
939 can use 939, 939A1, 939A2
939A1 can use 939, 939A1, 939A2
939A2 can use 939A2

If this is not correct tell us why and I will try to get a mod to change the list.

Here are the 3 different versions I have seen. I have not seen the inside of the current production models though. The first picture is the one from my truck and it was replaced with a current model from Southern Automotive.

The top pic is the "Non-electronic" one, can't tell if there is a curcuit board in the second pic or not, the third pic is definately the A2 box with the curcuit board. Thanks for the Pics. I have only ever seen the top and bottom ones.
