Photos of 1957 - 1960 medical jeep in Korea

My father in law served with the 21st Artillery, 1st Cav Div. in Korea, from about 1957-1960. I found a couple photos of the vehicles in his medical section. This is the litter jeep assigned to them. Note the caduceus insignia on the rear fenders. This is identical to the insignia found on some of the First Aid kits from the era. The bumper markings were "1 CAV" over "21F" on the left bumper guard, and "HQ 47" on the right. He said he came back from a pass and found that one of his "idiot specialists" had completely disassembled the jeep just for fun...he was bored. What the specialist didn't know was that they were, shortly thereafter, notified that they were to muster for a field exercise. He said he's not sure how he did it, but the jeep was reassembled in record time and was ready to go as ordered!

Very nice indeed...one of our members has one pretty much restored with all the goodies on board.

Wonder how much fire the poor specialist drew for taking the jeep apart??rofl

dcbrown.... Excellent photos of an M170 in-service along with an amazing story! And to maybe help with a question from rdsar2k: Here's a link with a large number of photos of a restored M170. Maybe you've seen these pics before but here's the link again: 1955 M170

Ya I have seen the ODcloth one. I use that as my template for rebuilding my M170. You can see my project on willysmjeeps.com look at photo gallery page 5 rdsar2k. Have to join the site to see.
I just figured that the photo's in this link were compressed to send to the site. I was hoping to get the original scans in a higher resolution so I could zoom and obsess over small details.

rdsar2k response on pics

I sent you the scans of these pics, a moment ago. The originals are fairly small, and not the greatest quality, but I scanned them with the best resolution, etc I could. Hope they help. Let me know if you don't get them at the email address you listed.
