Pink residue in cooling system

Someone may have used modern antifreeze in it. I don't know what the military is using for antifreeze nowadays but heavy diesels use pink antifreeze in civilian vehicles now. The pink antifreeze is an extended use antifreeze used originally in European cars but has moved to the US. It is also compatible with aluminum blocks and heads. Not a concern in your generator but I am pretty sure it will work with no issues. Or, you could drain it out and go back to green.

I would drain it out and use the green. If you buy it in the concentrated form it is cheaper, you pay less and mix your own. Why pay the company extra just to mix the concentrate with 50% water. And to do it the absolute correct way you should mix the concentrate with distilled water. This will prevent scale and mineral buildup from regular water.

That just means green was in it last. I think Poccur was right that it had pink in it previously. I would flush the system a few times with distilled water, then refill with prestone green and move on with life.

Whenever you get any kind of equipment or vehicle it is best to drain and refill ALL of the fluids. You have no idea what was done before you had it so play it safe.
