Please confirm my suspicions??? (Stater Relay)

After an exhausting search, I believe I may have found my problem, but need confirmation. Today after sitting for a couple of days, my M1008 would not start. I was getting a "clicking" noise under the dash (starter relay???), but the starter would not turn. Tried several times and after about the 5th time, he cranked over and started right up.

Is this problem with my starter relay? The is the second time it has happened and seems to happen when the truck has been sitting for a few days?

Thoughts as I need to remedy this problem for my daily driver?

Thanks!

Sounds like it is. Most of the time they stick open leaving the starter running until it burns up. It would be easy enough to confirm with a test light or multimeter.

Ditto. I would also make sure battery cables are clean and tight and double check your grounds. There is also a thread named "doghead starter relay modification" that is a must do for the cucv's.

Thanks guys already bookmarked the doghead mod thread and will pick up the new relay in the morning. But before I do, I will check the ground and cables.

I'd do the relay mod anyways. Listen to me, I have the parts and still haven't done my own. It's cheap insurance for sure.
