CANT VOTE not a citizen

It's late here, so it took me a bit to see the underlined greencard in my post quote. Had not thought of that. Can't they vote at all, or only local (I can vote locally, but nothing regional or national).

Politics and religion lead to very, very heated debates. You think all the back and forth on the rules of this site is bad, I dont even want to imagin what would happen if we opened these 2 to debate.

I will be at my polling place early Tues. morning before I have to go to school.

People in other countries envy our political system and the fact that we vote on just about everything (even dog catcher).

Voting is a personal choice.......use it as you see fit.

The next step after the ballot box for removing despots is the ammo box.

I prefer the former......but keep the latter full.

Even though we have early voting and mail ballots here, I wait until the last day to turn in my ballot. I might change my mind if some last minute thing is revealed. The only election I ever missed voting since 1960, I got a temporary duty assignment just before the election and too late to get an absentee ballot (got to love the government). Now my state will issue mail in ballots right up to the day before an election.

Sometimes I wonder if it makes a difference , but I have always voted and always will. Those that don't vote shouldn't complain about the results.

you know oddly enough i went to early voting last weekend. Since ive either been in the military and stationed out of state or in Iraq or Afganistan in a warzone I had never voted in an election from my residence ( i joined at 17). It had always been an absentee ballot. I walked in like normal and gave here my drivers license ( im a registered voter) she said since my last two votes were cast from overseas I wasnt eligible to vote until i had re-registered after this election.

I got a little irrate but wasnt rude, she was just doing her job. I asked her"So I can fight in two wars over six years and serve as a Marine Corps Sergeant but because I was fighting overseas instead of being at home Im not allowed to vote now?"

She went back and made some calls and came back with a paper ballot....... i left happy and got my "I voted" sticker.

You also mis-understood my post. Perhaps I was not clear. I do think it is your civic duty to be informed on issues and to vote for what you believe is right. You can't just stick your head in the ground and hope everything will be fine.

The people I frown upon are not people who don't vote but un-informed people who vote anyway.

Voted this morning! Right next to a woman who brought in her "mother" and voted for her, right from a marked sample ballot she had in her hand, she didn't even look at the names?

I vote because voting is not a right, it’s a privilege. It’s a privilege many men died to give you. Like other members here, I have been in countries where they have no “right” to vote or choose much of anything that happens in their country. Yes, you can choose not to vote. But you should know that America is only one, of a hand full of countries that allows its citizens the freedom to vote. Many countries claim to have “free” elections but we all know it’s bogus. This freedom to choose and vote is fragile. We haven’t had it long and it could easily slip away.

Most people don’t believe we could lose our right to vote or choose what happens here. But throughout history people have been caught off guard by the loss of their rights. I say this; vote, don’t vote it’s up to you. But when enough people stop voting their government will stop asking what you think or how you want to live. They will just tell you. Maybe you think I’m crazy. Then again maybe you should open a history book.

Yeah, he managed to snag that part of the quote from "RANDYDIRT" who posted earlier in the thread. If you are going to quote someones post, at least have the common courteous to quote the correct person.
