If your still looking for a hmmwv, G503 (sister site) :deadhorse::deadhorse:has six for sale from different people so check it out oh as well as eBay has three.

I'm glad you were not part of the movement to get ammo brass off the mutilate list. I bet you would have pointed out that we can buy brass from Winchester at 3 times the cost instead of reloading perfectly good military brass.

People need to understand that lawmakers will listen to the voters. If you want this rule changed, you have to talk to them in a polite but firm request that they change this rule. If enough people ask, it will be changed. It is as simple as that.

you would think that since the vehicles were purchased with our tax money, that we should have some kind of say as to what happens to them when the government throws them out. i hate seeing ads from gsa or others that require mutilation or the out right denial of selling other vehicles to civilians even though they are driven on our freeways everyday right beside us.

My my, thin skin are we. Looks like you have no knowledge of anything but just buying a vehicle, rather then seeing whats out there that mechanics have fully restored. Thats right your problebly the guy (voter) who thinks the government is out of money to:cookoo:. Well just insure you check your frame rails becuase if you bought off anybody other than AMG and especially from Ft. Polk, because I used to sling load and Air Drop those vehicles and well enough said.

What are you talking about?

Some of us would like the chance to buy surplus and restore it ourself. I understand your concern that your vehicle will be worth less with a surplus supply of HMMWVs. I still think we should be allowed to buy surplus trucks from GL, and support getting the rules changed.

Thank you for your input.

3 month later post...

...HMMWV's aren't sold to the public because they are considered a combat vehicle. Same reason we won't get tanks, APC's, ASV's, warplanes, and the like in working condition. Transport trucks are considered non-combat vehicles, even if you can mount a ring and a .50 on them. The HMMWV was intended from conception to be used in combat so it has a different classification in the military system than a deuce, 5 ton, HEMTT, FMTV, PLS, HET, etc. This applies to ALL HMMWV's, even the specifically transport ones.

Not debating whether it's a good idea or not...just stating why.
