With the new battery technologies available a rechargeable unit would probably work well. I have plenty of thed 5588s available if you want a lithium.

i recently acquired a prc-128 radio was working fine then the next thing " it stoped powering on", battery and conectors all test ok but no power on. any one ever had this issue . what module or component powers this radio when power is applyed. thanks rob
