Here goes. After burning up two stock alternators I decided to try something different. I purchased a Prestolite 8sa3064p from ebay. This unit is very similar to the ones we use in the 41' UTB's, and they never have problems. So I thought what the h*ll.
I used the existing bracket by welding ears where the old feet mounted as this one has a spool. The longest part was grinding the mount in between the two ears for the spool to fit. It would have been easier to raise the ears a little higher to clear, but I was trying to make stock belts work. Wiring it up was easy it used the same wires for the same use.
I started it up when done, violla the gauge is right where the mark is, nice. I'm hoping its as reliable as our 41's, only time will tell. Don't mind the big rusty washer in the second pic, that will get replaced when the new spacer gets installed.
Oh and 1 question, does anybody think the different spacing on the water pump and alt pulleys will be a problem?

after reading the stuff, it looks like they might be......at one point is lists the "b" ac terminals with up to 0 awg wire on high amp alts, nifty if Ya want to pull some ac power and bump it up thru a transformer.......(but its going to be variable high frequency ac power)

EXCELLENT possibility for stick welding, or even running some power tools
