939series ? Or not sure what the series is but 915-920? Which one are you referring to? The 939 series has a 12v hookup on the batteries but 24v only alternator.
M939 series. And you are correct that the 12V is tapped off of the batteries. It is wire # 569.

Had a brainstorm for 12v. Mount a 12v auto battery somewhere (in cab maybe). Attach a suitable "smart" charger (I already have one). Connect charger to 24v DC to AC inverter of sufficient capacity ( I think my charger draws 1000W at full honk ). Connect inverter to 24v on disconnectable side of battery switch. When battery switch is "on" 12v battery charges via inverter power. If not using the vehicle for a while, the charger can be unplugged from the inverter and connected to a 110v shoreline. "smart" charger keeps 12v batt at full charge.

Anyone see a whole in this bucket ?

Lot of extra stuff taking up room. And extra steps not required 24 to 110 to 12 volts, why not go 24 to 12 volt with equalizer and not add batteries, just use the 12v tap that is already there?
Someoldmoose I am not fussing because we have to many repeat threads, but you do realize this thread is 5 years old?
Also guys there is a solution made by one of the members here for the 24v to 12v lighting for trailers. When I find it I will post it here.
