Putting the M936A2 to Work

That's the problem with short booms. The wrecker machine with a longer boom could handle those containers at 50' and set them 3 high.... no other machine required. Maybe someone should make a boom replacement product that fits the wrecker???

My F600 (4 x 4) has a 50' stick (but not enough weight capacity for a container).

Keep us up on his progress. Container building is interesting to me. Good luck with your tool!

It really doesn't know something is back there. In low range I just have to tap the gas to get it rolling. After that it will idle with that thing dragging behind with no problem. Yeh you can't lift these things with the boom on these trucks but you can move them around easy enough to get them in their rough position. I will be helping with these things for the next few months. More pics and videos will follow.

Be careful with your boom out that far pulling around corners without the travel legs down it puts a lot of stress on your rotator gear box. It could damage it. They are strong but looks like you are at about 15' of boom so every 1000 lbs you pull sideways is like 15,000 lbs of torque you are putting on the gearbox. The travel legs will only see 3-4000 of that and are designed to support that kind of load. No fussing at you, your truck you do it how you want, just an observation that might help.

Good points. Avoiding the side loads would be a good idea. There is a cable running from the pintle hook to the lift chain to take most of the "pull" load.

I didn't see the cable to the pintle, I was wondering why the container was moving so smoothly.

How are the containers gonna be laid out ?

Not exactly sure. I do know 2 are for a garage. Two will be stacked in some arrangement for a second floor. I am not sure the owner knows what his layout will be to tell you the truth. If he ever finishes it I will post pics.

If you look at the rust on the break, it had been there a long time.
Mine did that. It was a total disintegration of the bearing from going down the road without a boom support for years as much as anything. I rebuilt it with a bearing between the drive spur gear and brass gear that was huge, many times the OEM capacity and used cold rolled tube to make the broken housing. I'm guilty of pulling sideways and especially since I like to do demolition. I made a hook for the end and have pull power too...which is probably why I have a brake in the line or fitting or ??? in the inside section of my boom right now.

Could an m936 lift a 40ft container I'm told they weigh about 8,000 empty looks like it has no problem towing it just wondering if it could lift one off of a semi trailer
