In a bit of a panic with this M998. Have an event in two days that is a short drive away. On a test drive today, running the heater and getting anti freeze on the passenger floor, so heater core is bad. Long term I can replace heater core but it aint' gonna happen tomorrow. If I leave all the push knobs and leave the heater off, will it still leak and give me potential overheating issues? Or will it cloase a valve to the heater core and not leak for the short trip?
I'll hang up and listen.

Definitely bypass it. It can leak from the reverse flow. Everything should be reachable from around the air intake area under the hood, just to the right of that is the valve and hoses (if I remember correctly.)

The easiest way is to find a couple pieces of something 5/8" in dia. to plug the two hoses, just pop the hoses off the heater core fittings, put the plugs in and tighten the clamps back up.
It is a little tight to get a piece of 5/8" hose in and circle back to the heater valve from the hard line but of course you are not concerned if the hose gets pinched.
