I have a friend that is in another state. He ask me why his wait light keeps coming on while he is driving it. I told him i did not know for sure. Any help. He said it starts fine in the AM. It is in a unheated garage. I never had this happen to me. Any ideas. Please don't say read the TM's. We both did that. He needs a quick answer please. No smart remarks. Thank you in advance.

I'm going to guess Glow plug control card failure? Or Coolant temp switch failure?

Thank you for your quick response. I am assuming this is the sending unit on the left rear cylinder head. I sent him a new CUCV electric card and it still does the same thing. If it were here I would be able to diagnose it quickly. Thank you. I knew a little brain storming would help.

I like to follow the step by step troubleshooting procedure in the -20 TM.

It is thorough and efficient.

The wait light should always have +12 volts on it from the fuse box, the ground for the light comes from the GP controller to turn the light on and off.

Check the dark Blue wire that comes out of the GP card connector to see if it has rubbed thru anywhere and is now connecting to ground.

If possible, try a 3rd GP card.

I know with mine the wait light would flicker and I changed to an antennaclimber card and was the same. Changed the temp sensor at 9 bucks and it was gone. A other thing about the whole flicker problem is that it thought the truck was cold and the glowplugs were cycling on.

Which temperature sensor did you change to stop the flickering wait light while driving? It seems to flicker over rough terrain and when you are stopped. Any help?
