Quick Question. Sensor on drivers side head, very front. What is it.

I'm attempting a head gasket swap and with a simple easy tug I broke the end off a sensor in the drivers side head. It's at the very front by alt. What is it, water temp sensor?

Yes, that's the sensor for the water temp gauge.

Doesn't look like head gaskets will fix my problems.
