Quick Release Door Hinge Pins

I don't know how many of you are interested in doing this, but a friend in my local off road club did this to his doors and I couldn't resist a free modification. It only takes about 2 hours to do if you are slow and makes removing the doors 100 times easier.

Can you buy just the bushings? I thought you had to buy new hinges, but it would be nice if I could get just those bushings for my drivers side door.

Most auto parts stores have a selection of bushings. Even pin and bushing sets. Usually you can also find oversize Outside diameter bushings if your hindge itself is worn. Enlarge the worn hole to fit the oversize bushing in and your hindge is like new.

Fab up some tubing doors with the same quick release pins...

Or some half doors and if you use the quick release pins then you can change them in less than 15 mins.

Got new bushings and installed them. Doors close so much nicer than before. I highly recommend new bushings.

Bushings and hinge pins make a world of difference. Adding a new stricker post on the door jam that has the plastic cover, or just putting on the plastic cover. Will complete the "like new" door experience.

I made a set of roadster doors for my M715 a few years ago. Great for trails and hot weather driving. Total pain anytime a front tire gets near water at speeds over 20 mph. A fine mist covers my outside thigh and arm. We haven't had noticable rain here in months. Yet, that doesn't mean I am safe. Sprinkler run off, car wash exit, guy towing a boat with the plug out, fast food parking lot washer, trash truck leaking something funky and even changing lanes at a stop light where a few vehicles dripping a/c condensation formed puddles. All have ended up on my clothes and in my eyes. Just wanted to point out the not so good side of cut down doors.
