History documents well the convergence of the Railroad Industry and the War Effort that was World War I.
Ninety-six years ago today, in 1917, most of the Railroad System of the US became MILITARY VEHICLES ! ! !
Additionally, under government control to support of the war effort, "Over 100,000 new railroad cars and 1,930 steam engines were ordered--designed to the latest standards--at a total cost of $380 million."
These were indeed MILITARY VEHICLES.
