Rocker Arm Support bolt Torque Specs?

Sheared a bolt on a rocker arm, which then caused the rocker arm shaft to break. Nice! Happened over Thanksgiving in Death Valley, Calif. I sat with Army Bob in a campground for a couple days while Mr. Gimli bummed a ride home to start getting parts.* At least I was comfortable....

That aside, we cannot locate the torque specs for the rocker arm support bolts on the rocker arm assembly. They are the 9/16" grade 8 bolts. Looked thru the TM and found every other spec a person might need, except for those bolts. Does anyone know? Thanks!

* For those not familiar with Death Valley - there is no cell service, very few phones and not alot of anything in this huge National Park. Park Service really can't help. Tow services come from outside the park (many miles = many $$$). Also those of you who do know Death Valley, Titus Canyon is doable in a duece! You have to make a few multi-point turns on a couple hairpins, but no problem! Picture is Army Bob at a wide point in the canyon.

Thanks, Clinto. This happened over Thanksgiving weekend - we were up and rolling again by the next Wednesday.

Biggest problem was getting to a phone to get the parts and then where to send to? It worked out that Mr. Gimli bummed a ride back to Carson City, then one of our employees came and got him (Sunday). Monday he was on the phone, ordered the parts overnighted. Parts showed up Tuesday, and he was on the road back to me and Army Bob still in Death Valley. Changed out one side of the complete rocker arm assembly and we were home late Wed. First and only breakdown Bob has had. We've put alot of miles on him this summer without a grumble. Luckily when he did break, we were only a few miles from a campground. A testament to the builders of the Duece - even with parts banging around in the top of motor, Bob still got us back to a safe place. It would've been a long darn walk back to somewhere if it had happened a few hours later, since we were headed down a backroad out of the Park, far from any one and anything. Good old Bob.

Even when he's broke, Army Bob takes a good picture. You can't really see him, but Mr. Gimli is up in the engine compartment changing out the rocker assembly.

Thanks, RL, I appreciate it. I wandered through alot of different types of forum sites, and SS is one of best organized, best run sites with the most good people. You guys ( and gals) are great!

We didn't want to leave Army Bob unattended in the campground while Mr. Gimli was chasing parts back home, so I stayed by myself with Bob for 2 1/2 days. It's not like a Winnebago sitting alone in a campground; didn't want no one messin' with the Bob. However it was like being in solitary confinment in a federal prison. I was very comfortable, warm, had lots to eat and drink, but NOTHING to do! We don't have satellite TV, there's no cell service there so I couldn't call anyone to chat, and the only video in the truck was...about Death Valley! oooo! It was also only about 40 degrees during day, so hiking was not appealing. Got caught up on my sleeping! Found out the dog is a horrible conversationalist! Made little rock piles around the camp spot! Rearranged the cabinets, and cleaned the refrig twice! Actually thought the garbage collection operation in the campground was interesting! Yep, that's boredom for ya. Just in case there's a "next time" (hopefully not), I've put in a couple paperbacks.... Thanks for listening to the continuing "Adventures with Army Bob".

Lisa, you need a shortwave radio or a ham radio. You can find something to listen to pretty much anytime of day and just listening does not require a large antenna at all. I use a 102" whip for my Ham rig for listening and for upper frequency work. That seems to get the job done nicely, and I have a quick disconnect on the antenna so I can take it off when on the road because my deuce is even taller than yours I would wager. I have the S280 shelter on it and top out at 11-3".
Take care and happy adventuring....
